Gnathocheirus Pentadactylos
Description: Creatures possessing a silicate incorporating exoskeletal structure with five forward facing limbs used to crawl and dig. Bacteria in their gut possess bioluminescent properties leading to them developing a simple compound eye to detect fellow members of their species and determining their health and prospects as a mate. The central of their five appendages has a hardened point allowing them to dig into ice and rock and break up colonies of algae and lichen. Solitary their blinking shells carve shallow lines in the faces of asteroids as they scrape at the near omnipresence algal blooms and lichen mounds.
Habitat: Pentadactylos roam the surface of asteroids and sometimes the exterior of the much larger Archaeotitans.
Reproduction: Male and Female Pentadactylos will signal from afar to others with slow pulses and flashes of light. The more intense the light and complex the light show the more desirable the male. Females burry egg sacks into the rocky surface of their home asteroid, the nymphs emerging and digging their way free to begin life.
